Up In The Air

Normally I would say those words bring to mind thoughts of uncertainty, change and suspense.  Especially in 2020!  I don’t know about you but I’ve become fairly well acquainted with those concepts, as well as feelings of being restricted and confined.  In fact, between the lockdowns, quarantines, masks, and other precautions that have been made necessary by COVID-19, I've found myself really longing for some big open skies…
So I decided to paint them! 

In the process of working on this finger-painting collection, I’ve discovered something.  You know what else is  “up in the air”? Clouds. Sunrises. Sunsets.  And a million combinations of colors and shapes that suggest new beginnings, fresh horizons, freedom and possibilities :)

I created this collection over several months, mixing a dozen custom paint colors and gathering inspiring reference photos from generous people around the world.  I hope these paintings will be as much of a breath of fresh air for you as they have been for me.

There is something about looking up at the sky that brings feelings of possibility. Maybe that's because it’s always changing, not stuck in any one state.  The more you look, the more you see.

“Boundless” was inspired by a photo taken by Denise Powell in Southern California.

The sides of the canvas are painted, so there's no need for framing, and a wire for hanging is installed.  "Boundless" is ready to go on display as soon as it arrives.

Canvas dimensions are 11"x14"x1.875"
